Glenside understood that when it came to the interior design and fit out of a school canteen in Reading, the need for precision and accuracy were vital. With our team well versed in the health and safety areas of Project Management we were able to begin the process without impacting on the day to day use of the building.
The existing canteen had limited capacity and posed significant problems with the number of students using the area. Over the course of 12 weeks, Glenside implemented a two stage project plan. For the first 6 weeks - during term time - our team conducted feasibility studies and design proposals in order to provide a complete solution for the client.
Once we understood both the full scope of the project and our client’s requirements, we spent the following 6 weeks – in the summer holidays - designing and fitting out their much needed canteen area. This project involved the refurbishment of an entire canteen, which included servery counters, food preparation facilities and enough space planning to ensure that 220 students were able to be served and seated at one time. As well as the aesthetic design of the space, Glenside were also tasked with the installation of a new mezzanine floor, which created an extra layer of canteen space. Additionally, it involved fitting new windows and doors, air-conditioning, ventilation as well as all electrics and plumbing.
Completing this project to budget and within the time frame meant that our client was happy with the results, offering glowing feedback on the project.
The project included the design and completion of a broad scope of works including:
- Mezzanine floor
- Feature lighting
- Wall partitioning
- Door and window fit out
- Floor installation and coverings
- Electric and plumbing
- Suspended ceiling
- Bespoke Kitchen Cabinetry
- Canteen furniture fit out
- External canopy and landscaping
